2The Maker Movement
Read the 3D Printing lesson before you start, in particular The Maker Movement.
Journal prompt
Spend some time on MakerWorld and Thingiverse looking at what other people have made and shared. Find three models and put them on your journal page, with a screenshot and a link for each:
- Something cosmetic that you think is cool, or that matches an interest of yours.
- Something practical that fixes or improves something you already own. A replacement battery cover for an Xbox controller, a clip that stops a USB cable bending at the connector, a bracket for a shelf.
- Something educational, a manipulative or a tool that would help somebody learn a specific topic in a specific subject.
For each one, add the link, add a picture of the object, write a sentence that describes what the part is and why you picked it (why do you think it is cool, what does it fix, or what school subject does it help you learn more about).
In one more paragraph, share your thoughts on the importance of distributed manufacturing. Do you think it is important that communities can make the things they use?
